Home Depot reports EPS at $2.28 in Q4

The Home Depot announced on Tuesday the company's earnings per share in the fiscal fourth quarter of 2019 jumped to $2.28, up from the $2.09 per share reported in the same period a year earlier and above projections.

Meanwhile, sales in the same quarter landed at $25.8 billion, lower than the $26.5 billion had in Q4 of 2018.

"Fiscal 2019 was a record year for our business and one marked by significant progress as we invest to transform ourselves into The Home Depot of the future. We had a strong finish to the year as our fourth-quarter results reflect strength in our core business, solid execution around our holiday events and the overall health of the consumer," Chief Executive Officer Craig Menear said in a press release.

Shares of Home Depot climbed 1.27% in premarket trading following the release of its earnings.
