US markets open higher, Dow up more than 100 pts

Wall Street stocks started Wednesday's trading session higher, somewhat bouncing back from yesterday's losses. United States President Donald Trump commended the work done by the Centers for Disease Control and his administration in containing the spread of the deadly coronavirus. Also, the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) reported earlier that mortgage applications in the United States increased by 1.5%. Investors are still waiting for the US Census Bureau to release the report about the number of new home sales.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose more than 100 points and was up 0.59% at the opening bell. UnitedHealth Group Inc was the best performer, gaining 2.26%. The Nasdaq 100 grew 0.92% as Lam Research Corp jumped 4.14%. The S&P 500 rose 0.63%. with TJX Companies Inc advancing 8.04%.

The euro slipped 0.18% against the dollar at 9:32 am ET to change hands for 1.08620.
