Lockheed Martin's CEO Marillyn Hewson to step down

Lockheed Martin Corporation Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Marillyn Hewson (pictured right) will step down, the plane builder announced on Monday. She will be succeeded by James Taiclet, a board member of the company and the head of American Tower Corporation, effective June 15.

Hewson, who will serve as serve as Lockheed Martin's executive chairman of the board once she leave her post, joined the defense company in 1983 while she was appointed as its CEO in 2013.

"I'm pleased the board agreed with my recommendation. As Lockheed Martin's next CEO, Jim will lead the company forward in its next phase of growth and value creation," Hewson said in a statement.
