Former US envoy to UN leaves Boeing over gov't aid

Former United States Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley (pictured) left The Boeing Company's Board of Directors, the airplane manufacturer announced in a press release on Thursday.

Haley had been named to the board on April 29, 2019, and served on the company's finance and audit committees. Boeing revealed that she resigned "as a matter of philosophical principle" as "she does not believe that the company should seek support from the Federal Government."

The Chicago-based firm said yesterday that it would back a "minimum of $60 billion in access to public and private liquidity, including loan guarantees" from the US government for the aerospace industry to help it endure the coronavirus economic hit.
