Walmart to hire 150K workers amid COVID-19 crisis

Walmart said that it intends to hire 150,000 hourly workers in the United States through the end of May in stores, clubs, distribution centers and fulfillment centers due to the growing demand amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The company also noted it will pay cash bonuses to its employees in April to reward them for their hard work during the national health emergency. All hourly associates working at Walmart as of March 1 will be entitled to the bonuses, with full-time workers receiving $300 and part-time employees getting $150.

Furthermore, store, club and supply chain associates will receive their quarterly bonuses a month early. "Overall, it amounts to nearly $550 million going into associates’ pockets and the economy at this important time," Walmart stressed.
