Germany lockdown to last at least until April 20

Germany's lockdown measures in response to the coronavirus pandemic will last at least until April 20, according to Chancellor Angela Merkel’s chief of staff Helge Braun.

"We are not talking about any easing before April 20," Braun told Tagesspiegel on Saturday. Merkel asked Germans for patience earlier this week as the virus sometimes has a 14-day incubation period and the country has not yet experienced a drop in the number of new infections.

Forty-four more people in the country have died in the last 24 hours due to COVID-19, bringing Germany's current death toll to 395.
