Boeing to extend Puget Sound output suspension - report

Boeing Company is set to extend a temporary suspension of production at all Puget Sound area and Moses Lake plants until further notice, the aircraft maker said in an e-mail sent to employees viewed by The Seattle Times on Sunday. The company's operations in Washington State were previously scheduled to restart on April 8.

Around 30,000 out of 70,000 Boeing's employees in the state will be affected by the shutdown extension, mostly production workers, according to the report.

The company's "continuing focus on the health and safety of its employees, current assessment of the spread of COVID-19 in the state, the reliability of the supply chain, and additional recommendations from government health authorities" led to the decision, the statement said.
