Trump: OPEC hasn't asked US to cut oil output

The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) never asked the United Stated to cut oil production, President Donald Trump said on Monday.

Speaking to the press at his daily coronavirus press conference, Trump said he would consider cuts if OPEC asks US producers to reduce output after its next meeting. However, Trump added that a 40% cut already exists since the coronavirus pandemic "knocked out" that much from the markets.

OPEC+ is meeting on output cuts virtually on April 9.
