US stocks open lower on Easter Monday

Concerns regarding the impact the coronavirus pandemic will have on the economy drove stocks on Wall Street lower on Monday, with all three indexes starting the trading session in the red. Federal Reserve Vice Chairman Richard Clarida said the central bank will keep interest rates near zero until the economy is "back on track."

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.39% at the opening bell as Caterpillar Inc. surrendered 4.69%. The Nasdaq 100 fell 0.36%, with Micron Technology Inc. losing 3.23%. The S&P 500 decreased 0.40%. American Airlines Inc. was the worst performer, sliding 7.27%.

The euro slipped 0.23% against the dollar at 9:29 am ET to sell for 1.09090.
