WHO: Unknown whether COVID-19 re-infection possible

The issue of whether recovered coronavirus patients can contract the disease again, the World Health Organization said on Monday remains "unknown."

"With regards to recovery and then re-infection, I believe we do not have the answers to that. That is an unknown," Director-General for Emergencies at WHO Dr. Mike Ryan (pictured) said at a press conference in Geneva.

Earlier, the South Korean Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said that 116 people thought to have recovered from the virus have tested positive for COVID-19 again. Officials added that they are investigating the causes for the re-infections, including the possibility of faulty tests.
