Boeing postpones 737 MAX return over COVID-19 - report

Boeing Company is set to postpone the return of its 737 MAX aircraft until at least late summer or early fall due to the coronavirus impact, sources told The Wall Street Journal on Friday. Therefore, the company is expected to miss the target for the aircraft's return that was previously set for midyear.

A lockdown imposed over the pandemic stifled Boeing's plan to conduct flight tests involving foreign pilots as well as the Federal Aviation Administration's intention to brief international regulators before eventually grant approval to 737 MAX.

The plane maker's shares increased modestly in premarket trade after the report was published, adding 0.17% at 6:26 am ET.
