Wall Street opens in green despite weak data

United States stock market started trading higher on Friday as investors focused on corporate earnings, as well as yesterday's and today's economic data. Verizon Communications Inc. reported a 2% drop in revenues on an annual basis, while American Express Co. posted a decrease of 1% year-over-year. Nasdaq announced Zoom Inc. will join the NASDAQ-100 index starting April 30.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 0.48% at the opening bell, as Amex advanced 2.64%. Nasdaq 100 increased 0.29%, with Expedia Group growing 2.62%. The S&P 500 rose 0.53%, as Apache Corp. increased 7.33%.

The euro gained 0.18% against the dollar at 9:29 am ET to sell for 1.07975.
