US markets open higher on NYC reopening plans

Stocks on the United States markets opened in the green on Monday on positive news New York City could start lifting lockdown measures at the beginning of May. Meanwhile, President Donald Trump agreed with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron a reform of the World Health Organization is necessary.

In business news, Boeing Co. halted a joint venture deal with Embraer S.A. last weekend, while the Treasury Department announced it allocated an additional $9.5 billion to support the country's air carriers amid the crisis.

The Dow jumped 0.54% at the start of the session, with UnitedHealth Group growing 1.42%. The Nasdaq 100 gained 0.89% at the opening bell as Tesla advanced 3.01%. The S&P 500 kicked off 0.77% higher. LabCorp led the table, rising 5.27%.

The euro was 0.27% higher versus the dollar to sell for $1.08532 at 9:32 pm ET.
