Europe opens mostly flat as earnings roll in

Shares on major European stock markets started trading mostly flat on Tuesday as investors monitor corporate earnings. Among companies that reported earlier in the day were UBS, Novartis and BP, which reported a 67% drop in net profit amid crashing oil prices.

Traders also kept a close eye on coronavirus developments, including the easing of restrictions in a number of European countries.

The FTSE 100 started the session 0.09% in the green as media company ITV led the modest gains. The CAC 40 and the DAX started trading flat.
