Boeing may have not complied with production standards - report

United States regulators have expanded their probe into Boeing Co. to include problems relating to quality control failures in the production of 737 MAX, the Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Department of Justice are now looking into the manufacturer's compliance with mandatory production rules and safeguards after debris was found in fuel tanks and other interior spaces of approximately half of the MAX aircraft, the newspaper wrote.

The FAA is reportedly pursuing possible civil-enforcement action and may propose fining Boeing.
