China's trade surplus at $45.34B in April

The Chinese trade surplus stood at $45.34 billion (318.15 billion yuan) in April, the country's General Administration of Customs said on Thursday.

April's data marks a significant increase compared to last month's figure which showed China having a goods trade surplus of $19.9 billion.

The country's exports exceded expectations, rising by 8.2% compared to the same month last year, while the country's imports slid 10.2% year-on-year, landing above the estimated figures.
