US stocks close higher with earnings, virus in focus

Markets in the United States closed in the green on Thursday as investors continued to anticipate the US economy reopening after coronavirus shutdowns. Market watchers also focused on jobs data and corporate earnings with Uber set to report after the bell.

The Dow Jones rose 0.89%. Boeing was the best performer, rallying 5.57%.

The Nasdaq 100 jumped 1.30%. PayPal led the gains as its shares soared 14.01% after the company reported a 12% rise in first-quarter revenue.

The S&P 500 climbed 1.15% as Fortinet skyrocketed 21.23%.

The euro added 0.33% against the dollar to sell for 1.08302 at 4:01 pm ET.
