WHO: US and Brazil did not take warnings seriously

The United States and Brazil did not take warnings regarding the coronavirus outbreak seriously, said Margaret Harris, the spokesperson for the World Health Organisation (WHO), on Tuesday.

The US currently counts around 1.3 million confirmed cases of coronavirus patients, with the death toll of over 80.000, while Brazil counts over 162 thousand registered cases and over 10.000 deaths.

Both US President Donald Trump and President of Brazil Jair Bolsonaro have been accused of downplaying the worldwide pandemic and of missing out on imposing appropriate measures of protection to prevent the virus from spreading, which resulted in members of their staff and delegations contracting the disease.
