Johnson's plan may hinder travel industry's recovery - IAG's CEO

International Airlines Group (IAG) Chief Executive Offices Willie Walsh (pictured) stressed on Thursday that the United Kingdom government's reopening plan may damage a potential rebound of the travel industry.

"The prime minister’s decision to quarantine people arriving in the UK, by air, and the Health Secretary’s comments that it was unlikely that 'big, lavish international holidays' were going to be possible this summer, have seriously set back recovery plans for our industry," Walsh explained in a letter sent to the Parliament Transport Committee.

On Monday, the UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson unveiled the government's plan for lifting containment measures nationwide, saying the UK started its "descent from the peak of the epidemic."
