Bright: US missed early signals to prevent virus spread

Rick Bright, the former head of the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority, which has been central to the response to the coronavirus outbreak, spoke before the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s Subcommittee on Health on Thursday said he wants to be represented by a counsellor.

It is expected that he will say the virus is everywhere and that "we need to be able to find it, to isolate it and to stop it from infecting more people. We need tests that are accurate, rapid, easy to use, low cost, and available to everyone who needs them."

Bright, now a senior adviser at the National Institutes of Health, said earlier that the administration "missed early warning signals" to prevent the spread of the virus and blames the leadership of the Health and Human Services for being "dismissive" of his "dire predictions."
