Bright: Hydroxychloroquine as cure is just anecdote

During the hearing of "whistleblower" Rick Bright before the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s Subcommittee on Health, Republican congressman Michael Burgess asked about hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine use as a proper medication for treating COVID-19 claiming he knows the doctors who have experience with hydroxychloroquine and have reported significant benefits if used early enough.

Bright called those stories "anecdotes" saying they weren’t confirmed by a clinical study. "There might have been some good things but we will know that only after studies are through" he noted. He also said that the National Health Security Strategy (NHSS) can probably provide numbers available regarding chloroquine use as medication.

He stressed his "concern about the safety of chloroquine at that time we learned about hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine, there were limited data available. The similar actions were taken for remdesivir. I was directed from the office to put in place the chloroquine donation to be available to Americans that are not under the close supervision of health provider" he added.
