Social networks shouldn't fact-check political speech - Zuckerberg

Facebook Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg said on Thursday he thinks social networks shouldn't be fact-checking online posts made by politicians.

"I don't think that Facebook or internet platforms, in general, should be arbiters of truth, as political speech is one of the most sensitive parts in a democracy, and people should be able to see what politicians say," Zuckerberg told CNBC.

His statement comes just ahead of President Donald Trump's executive order regarding social media companies, which is expected to be revealed this week. Commenting on the matter, Twitter's CEO Jack Dorsey said the social media platform will continue to fact-check tweets about the upcoming elections despite Trump's threats.
