Dow down over 250 pts ahead of Trump's briefing

The Dow Jones Index plunged over 250 points on Friday just a couple of hours before the conference on relations between the United States and China from President Donald Trump. Meanwhile, Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell claimed negative lending rates are not "an appropriate tool" for the US economy.

The Dow tumbled 1.05% or 266 points at 12:31 pm ET, while the S&P 500 fell 0.67% at the same time. On the other hand, the Nasdaq 100 rose 0.05% a minute later.

The euro gained 0.14% compared to the dollar to sell for $1.10924 at 12:32 pm ET.
