Trump's church photo-op was Ivanka's idea - report

United States President Donald Trump's photo-op in front of the St. John's Church was the idea of the president's Senior Advisor Ivanka Trump, the New York Times reported citing senior White House officials.

According to the media outlet, two officials revealed Mark Meadows, the White House chief of staff, credited the president's daughter with making the suggestion in order for Trump to demonstrate "toughness." Some of the other officials, however, claimed the president came up with the plan by himself but executed it with Ivanka's help.

Following his speech, back on Tuesday, protesters in front of the presidential palace were dispersed for the president to make his way across Lafayette Square to the church damaged by fire the night before. In the speech, he announced the 1807 Insurrection Act will be invoked to mobilize the national guard in order to deal with the violence amid demonstrations across the nation.
