Seattle mayor extends night curfew until June 6

Seattle's night curfew has been extended at least until June 6, a civil emergency order signed by Mayor Jenny Durkan (pictured) showed. According to the order, citizens of Seattle will not be allowed to be in the streets every night from 9 pm to 5 am, local time and fines and prison sentence will be applicable to anyone violating the order.

The announcement came shortly after Durkan and Police Chief Carmen Best spoke to the crowd in the the Capitol Hill neighborhood and asked them to keep the demonstrations peaceful.

Durkan also stated on Twitter that, amid nation-wide protests, trust between law enforcement and citizens needs to be restored.
