McEnany defends decision to clear protesters in DC

White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said on Wednesday that the decision to clear out protesters in front of St. John's Church in Washington, DC, earlier this week was justified as demonstrators were violent towards police.

"The first amendment doesn't give anyone the right to riot, loot, burn down buildings, deface property and assault people," McEnany said at her White House briefing, adding that some demonstrators in DC were "unruly" and violent towards law enforcement officials.

Responding to rumors that President Donald Trump is dissatisfied with comments made by Defense Secretary Mark Esper earlier in the day, McEnany said if the president was disappointed in him, Esper would have already been terminated.
