British airlines challenge UK's quarantine rules

The United Kingdom government is facing legal action set in motion by British Airways, easyJet, and Ryanair, the three companies announced in a joint statement on Friday.

The airlines decided to file a lawsuit over the UK quarantine legislation, which imposes a 14-day period of mandatory isolation upon arrival to the country for all visitors. Such rules "will have a devastating effect on British tourism and the wider economy and destroy thousands of jobs," the statement said, asking policymakers to "re-adopt its previous quarantine policy introduced on March 10 that require quarantine for passengers from "high-risk countries" only.

International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A., the owner of the British Airways, announced their plans to challenge the Government’s regulation earlier in June.
