Almost 77% back Putin's constitutional amendments

A total of 76.9% of Russian voters backed constitutional amendments that would enable President Vladimir Putin to extend his rule until 2036, official results from the Central Election Commission (CEC) showed, with 60% of the votes counted.

Meanwhile, 22.28% were against the constitutional amendments. Voter turnout was at 65%, CEC added.

However, Russia opposition politician Alexey Navalny claimed the vote was rigged and added, "a huge number of people are disappointed by the result." He went on to say: "I voted 'no,' everyone around voted 'no,' and the result is a solid 'yes.'"
