Volvo recalls 2.2 million cars over faulty seat belts

Volvo confirmed on Thursday it will recall 2.2 million of its cars due to a fault in their seat belts.

"The recall applies to cars from a previous generation of Volvo models. We have no reports of accidents or injuries. This is a preventive measure to avoid future problems," its spokesman Stefan Elfstrom told Swedish Radio, adding the company informed the affected customers of the issue and advised them to inspect their automobiles.

This marks the largest recall ever made by the Swedish vehicle manufacturer, which recently teamed up with Alphabet's Waymo to build safe-driving cars.
