Dow jumps over 200 pts amid volatile session

Equities on major stock markets in the United States traded mostly in the green after starting the session mostly lower amid varying data coming from companies. While Delta Air Lines, Wells Fargo, and Citigroup reported losses, JPMorgan Chase & Co quarterly earnings report managed to beat expectations. Additionally, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics revealed that the Consumer Price Index in the country went up 0.6% in June, compared to the same month previous year.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 0.93% or 235 points at 10:42 am ET. Concurrently, the S&P 500 rose by 0.25% while the Nasdaq 100 lost 0.66%.

The euro increased by 0.49% against the dollar, selling for $1.13945 at 10:50 am ET.
