Delta looking to cut pilot's minimum pay - report

Delta Air Lines Inc. is considering reducing the guaranteed minimum pay for pilots in order to avoid furloughs for a year, CNBC reported on Friday.

"Our approach is to spread the work of a smaller airline among all our pilots to preserve all jobs - that would be unheard of in our history. But we cannot do it only with voluntary options such as [early retirement packages] and paid leaves," Delta's senior VP John Laughter stated in a memo seen by the news organization.

Reportedly, more than 1,700 out of 14,000 pilots that were offered early retirements have agreed to the packages.
