EIA: US crude inventories rise by 4.9 million barrels

Commercial crude oil inventories in the United States, excluding inventories in the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, increased by 4.9 million barrels to 536.6 million barrels in the week ending July 17, the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) revealed on Wednesday.

US crude oil refinery inputs averaged 14.2 million barrels per day, 103,000 barrels less compared to the previous week’s figure. Refineries operated at 77.9% of their capacity, while gasoline production diminished, averaging 9.1 million barrels per day.

Crude oil imports in the US averaged 5.9 million barrels per day, 373,000 barrels per day more than the previous week. Total commercial petroleum inventories added 8.8 million barrels.
