Rising COVID-19 numbers in Germany 'very worrying' - RKI

Lothar Wieler (pictured), president of Germany's Robert Koch Institute (RKI), said on Tuesday that the coronavirus situation in the country is "very worrying."

Wieler noted that 3,611 new infections were registered in Germany over the last seven days with many small outbreaks emerging across the country. Over the last 24 hours alone, 633 new COVID-19 cases were reported, the RKI head stressed.

Meanwhile, the German Foreign Ministry urged citizens not to travel to the Spanish regions of Aragon, Catalonia and Navarre due to spikes in coronavirus cases in the areas.
