UK to speed up approval of construction projects

The United Kingdom's government wants to speed up construction by implementing a new system that would allow some projects to be approved automatically, British Housing Minister Robert Jenrick (pictured) said on Sunday.

Under the new rules, the land will be put into three categories, with areas "designated for growth" permitting hospitals, schools, new homes to be built automatically. Those marked as "renewal areas" will have "permission in principle" to make the approval process faster while allowing "appropriate checks." Protected land will be banned from new development.

"We are introducing a simpler, faster, people-focused system to deliver the homes and places we need." the official stated, adding that "people can get going."
