US releases new spectrum for commercial 5G use - WH

The White House revealed in a statement the administration will, alongside the United States Department of Defense, launch a new 100 megahertz of contiguous, coast-to-coast mid-band spectrum to be used commercially with an aim to improve the nation's 5G communications.

At President Donald Trump's directive, the administration officials have taken action towards lifting "unnecessary" barriers with regards to 5G, allowing the American wireless industry to build and operate the fifth-generation technology in order to cement the nation's place as a "world leader in 5G readiness." The move is set to provide US citizens with access to the world's greatest 5G networks without jeopardizing military readiness or national security.

"With high speeds, improved reliability, and low latency, 5G will improve every industry and the lives of all Americans," White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany (pictured) said about the matter, noting the nation has made "significant strides" in terms of 5G technology.
