Navalny spox says police confirm poisoning

Russian opposion leader Alexey Navalny was poisoned, a police officer at the hospital in Omsk where the politician is in a coma said on Friday, according to Navalny's spokesperson Kira Yarmysh. The press officer added that the poison was not only dangerous to Navalny, but also to everyone around him. However, it was not revealed what Navalny was poisoned with as it is considered to be "secret" information while the investigation lasts, Yarmysh said.

She went on to accuse the Kremlin of refusing to move Navalny to a hospital out of Russia, saying that the medical team initially said Navalny could travel and then suddenly claimed his condition was too severe to allow for transportation.

Yarmysh added that his team will urgently appeal to the European Court of Human Rights to demand that the Russian authorities allow Navalny to be moved to a hospital out of the country, saying "delaying transportation can lead to irreparable harm to life and health."
