Wall Street surges at close on vaccine progress

Wall Street trading session ended with a jump on Friday after a stream of positive news coming from the business sector. While Pfizer and BioNTech announced they are working to submit their COVID-19 vaccine candidate for regulatory review by October, Apple's stocks gained more than 4%. On the data front, the US existing home sales monthly surged 24.7% in July, and private sector business activity reached an 18-month high in August.

The Dow Jones surged 0.69% at the closing bell, while the Nasdaq 100 ended 0.68% higher. The best performer on both indexes was Apple Inc which rose by 5.15%. The S&P 500 closed by advancing 0.35% as Deere Co increased by 4.40%. Friday also marked a new record high in performance for both Nasdaq 100 and S&P 500.

The euro lost 0.56% against the dollar to sell for 1.17948 at 4:06 pm ET.
