French economy could perform better in 2020 - Le Maire

French Minister of Economy and Finance Bruno Le Maire said on Friday that the country's economy could perform better than expected by the end of this year as its recovery from the effects of the coronavirus pandemic moves in the "good direction."

"I think we will do better in 2020 than the 11%-recession forecast at the moment," he told BFMTV.

Le Maire previously noted France's economy will need about two years to go back to its pre-pandemic level. Prime Minister Jean Castex subsequently announced the government has allocated €100 billion to a new set of measures to combat the crisis.
