N. Korea might launch submarine missiles - CSIS

United States' Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) warned of Pyongyang's potential testing of a submarine-launched ballistic missile after detecting activity in North Korea's main submarine shipyard.

"These apparent launch preparations might indicate the highly speculated 'October surprise,' which would be consistent with Beyond Parallel historical data that shows heightened provocations around US presidential election years," CSIS's report read.

Back in August, South Korea revealed it is planning to develop miniature satellites with Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) technology to ensure better monitoring of its northern neighbor's military activities after North Korea's Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un commented that nuclear deterrence ensures the country's national security.
