US oil inventories increase by 2.97M barrels - reports

Crude inventories in the United States went up by 2.97 million barrels in the week ending September 4, private data from the American Petroleum Institute (API) reportedly showed on Wednesday. Meanwhile, oil reserves in Cushing, Oklahoma, rose by 2.61 million barrels in the same seven-day period.

Gasoline stockpiles in the US sank 6.89 million barrels last week, while the country's distillate reserves were up by 2.29 million barrels in the same week.

West Texas Intermediate (WTI) for settlements in October declined 0.66% to trade for $37.80 per barrel at 4:30 pm ET, following the data release. A minute later, Brent for deliveries in November lost 0.64%, selling at $40.53 per barrel.
