EU-China investment deal to be inked by 2020's end

The European Union and China on Monday agreed to strengthen their cooperation on digital, climate, and environmental matters, as well as to conclude their negotiations on mutual investments by the end of the year.

The decision was made during a virtual meeting held between European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, European Council President Charles Michel, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Earlier in the day, the two parties signed a bilateral agreement to protect 100 European Geographical Indications (GIs) in China and 100 Chinese GIs in the EU.
