Navalny not poisoned while in Russia - spy chief

Russian opposition politician and stark critic of President Vladimir Putin, Alexey Navalny, did not have any poison in his body when he was leaving Russia for Germany after falling into a coma, head of Moscow's foreign intelligence service SVR Sergey Naryshkin said on Tuesday.

Additionally, Naryshkin claims that Russia has given up on all chemical warfare agents in line with international regulations agreed within the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW). The spy chief went on to deny that Russia had any sort of secret stockpile of Novichok.

Earlier, the G7 condemned the "confirmed poisoning" of Navalny as three laboratories in Germany said that the opposition politician had been poisoned with Novichok, a nerve agent which was also used in the Salisbury poisoning of Sergey and Yulia Skripal in 2018.
