UK's Buckland: Want to get market bill through

United Kingdom Justice Secretary Robert Buckland said on Wednesday that the government wants to "get through" with the Internal Market Bill, but noted there's still a lot of discussions among the Conservatives.

Speaking to Sky News, Buckland claimed he would consider stepping down from his post if the UK was confirmed to have broken international law in "a way that cannot be fudged." However, he said it is highly unlikely the country is currently "at that stage."

The House of Commons passed the bill two days ago in a first vote with a result of 340-263. However, several Tory MPs abstained from the vote due to disagreeing with the government on the draft's content. Two government officials already resigned due to the controversial law that goes against the Withdrawal Agreement between London and Brussels, including former Special Envoy for Freedom of Religion Rehman Chishti and Treasury Solicitor Jonathan Jones.
