London may use curfews to curb 2nd COVID wave - official

London's top public health official warned that the United Kingdom capital might impose curfews in an effort to prevent a strong second wave of the COVID-19 outbreak without reintroducing lockdowns.

Public Health Regional Director for London Kevin Fenton told the Evening Standard in an interview released on Wednesday that "local curfews" could be needed in some parts of the city to prevent people from staying out and "drinking until the wee hours of the morning."

"In some areas which have seen resurgence there have been limits placed on the amount of time you can spend socializing," Fenton noted. Last week, the UK introduced a ban on gatherings of more than six people amid a new surge in coronavirus infections.
