EIA: US crude inventories drop by 4.4M barrels

Crude oil stockpiles in the United States fell by 4.4 million barrels compared to the previous week to land at 496 million barrels in the week ending September 11, the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) unveiled in its weekly report on Wednesday.

US crude oil refinery inputs averaged 13.5 million barrels per day, marking an increase of 700,000 barrels per day compared to the previous week. Refineries operated at 75.8% of their capacity. Meanwhile, gasoline production declined, averaging 8.8 million barrels per day.

Crude oil imports in the US averaged 5 million barrels per day, 416,000 barrels per day less than the week before. Total commercial petroleum inventories increased by 4.3 million barrels.
