UK govt not considering new lockdown - minister

British Minister of State for Health Edward Argar denied on Thursday the government is considering a new national lockdown amid a recent rise in daily coronavirus cases in the country.

"It is not something I have seen within the department. The Prime Minister [Boris Johnson] has been very clear on this. He doesn't want to see another national lockdown. He wants to see people abiding by the regulations and making the local lockdowns work," Argar told Sky News.

Earlier this month, Britain banned gatherings of more than six people to prevent a strong second wave of COVID-19. Meanwhile, Public Health Regional Director for London Kevin Fenton warned the capital might introduce curfews in such an effort.
