European shares move higher in premarket ahead of data

Shares on major European stock exchanges moved higher during premarket trading on Thursday ahead of a flurry of economic data reports.

Investors were awaiting manufacturing PMI releases for Germany, the euro area and the United Kingdom. Additionally, factory gate prices for the eurozone and the August unemployment rate were set for a release later in the day. In the United States, initial jobless claims for last week will be closely monitored as investors continue to assess the country's economic recovery amid the pandemic.

The DAX rose 0.49%, while the FTSE 100 was up 0.41% at 7:50 am CET. The CAC 40 gained 0.52% ahead of the start of the session in Paris. The euro advanced 0.23% against the dollar at 7:55 am CET, buying 1.17466. At the same time, the pound was up 0.17% against the greenback, to go for 1.29430.
