Fed's Kashkari: Road to recovery will be long

President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis Neel Kashkari (pictured) asserted on Friday that the United States economy is not close to getting back to where it was before the coronavirus pandemic.

Kashkari described the figure revealed in the US Bureau of Labor Statistics' jobs report as "disappointing," and stressed that additional fiscal stimulus is vital for getting the economic activity back to its pre-pandemic level.

He reiterated the importance of an effective vaccine for getting the economy back on track but asserted that the virus will probably be a significant factor for at least a year.
