Europe opens higher on Euronext, Borsa Italiana news

Major European markets opened higher on Friday after it was reported that Euronext N.V. will buy the Italian Stock Exchange for €4.33 billion from the London Stock Exchange Group plc. On the data front, the UK GDP grew by 2.1% month-on-month in August while the country's trade surplus rose to £7.7 billion in August.

The FTSE 100 gained 0.23% at the opening bell. Mondi Plc was the best performer rising by 2.20% three minutes later. The CAC 40 rose by 0.30% at the same time as Unibail-Rodamco-We went up by 0.85%. The DAX grew by 0.22% 9:02 am CET with Henkel AG rising by 2.91% at 9:06 am CET.

The euro traded 0.14% in the green compared to the dollar, changing hands for 1.17748 at 9:00 am CET. The pound was 0.15% up at the same time against the greenback, going for 1.29572.
