Lakers win 17th NBA championship

The Los Angeles Lakers beat the Miami Heat 106-93 to win the NBA finals after six games. They have become only the second team to win 17 championships, after the Boston Celtics.

The Lakers set a good pace in the first quarter, leading the game and ending the period 28-20. Their dominance increased in the second as they scored 36 points. The final score in the first half was 58-34.

The Heat continued to trail the LA team in the second half as they put up little resistance and finished the third quarter 29 points behind. Miami fought back in the last quarter, but could not tie the game.

LeBron James, who won MVP for the game, set a record for most playoff games played with 260. He was also scored a triple-double, with 28 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists in the game which marks his fourth NBA title.
